Dragon Ball Z - Hyper Dimension, released in Japan in 1996, is a fighting video game and comes under the Butoden series. TOSE Software Co. developed the game, and Bandai published it for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System.
The game features a story similar to that of the Dragon Ball Z anime, which takes place from the late Frieza Saga during the Kid Buu Saga. The only notable difference is that the selected characters the player chooses and they losing in specific battles do not block the plot's progression.
The game has four gameplay modes: Story Mode, Practice Mode, Tournament Mode, and Versus Mode. The Story Mode in the game is unlike the other games because the focus is on one character, which the player initially selects and later focuses on another character. The Practice Mode enables a player to battle a player-controlled player but deals no damage. This mode is beneficial for experimenting with the basic controls of the game or mastering combos.
The Tournament Mode enables to play up to eight players to fight against each other or with computer-controlled characters similar to the previous Butoden games. The Versus Mode allows two players to battle each other or competes with a computer-controlled player.
