Developed and published by Midway Games, Mortal Kombat Trilogy is an action-fighter video game launched in 1996 for the PlayStation and N64 gaming consoles. It is the 1st and 2nd update to Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 and Mortal Kombat 3, respectively. It includes similar graphics, gameplay, and a similar story compared to Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, yet adds characters and stages re-established from Mortal Kombat and Mortal Kombat 2. New increases to the game incorporated the "Aggressor" bar and another completing move called Brutality, a long blend of assaults that closes with the rival detonating. When the bar is filled, it concedes the character's quick development and more prominent assault harm for a brief timeframe.
The game was attended with mixed reviews upon launch from critics and fans. Brazilian magazine SuperGamePower gave 4.6 points out of 5 and viewed it as the best Mortal Kombat game. French magazine Super Power awarded 9.2 points out of 10 for the PSX version of the game.
Various characters acquired extra exceptional and unique moves. Some were basic altars of existing moves (Stryker tossing two bombs rather than one), while others were new dynamism never executed in their proposed past games. These exceptional moves included MKII Kung Lao's Air Torpedo, Goro's Spinning Punch move, MK1 Kano's Knife Spin move, and Raiden's Lightning shoots from behind the adversary, and Baraka's Blade Spin move. Also, Shao Kahn acquired a throw and got the punch move, and Motaro earned a right toss move.
