Developed by Capcom, this game provides both action and adventure to the player. This game was initially launched in 1996 and then in 1997. Reviews for Mega Man 8 have been very favorable compared to its previous versions. Critics opposed the lack of innovation in gameplay or other game features as it offered nothing new from the earlier versions. GameSpot reviewed this game and stated that the game's plot was not unique and many robots were like the enemies in the previous games. GamesRadar provided this game with the rank of 23rd on the list of best Sega Saturn games.
The game's story follows as there is the main character of the game Mega Man, a robotic hero. Mega man is urgently needed on a crash site where a meteoroid has recently crashed on an island, and mysterious energy radiations are coming out of it. Mega man is required to investigate. Dr wily, the villain in this game, suddenly appears on the site and beats Mega Man to steal the mysterious light source. Now the Mega man's goal is to stop Dr. Wily from using this light for his evil purposes and find out the purpose of the robot found on the crash site.
Like many previous Mega man versions, this game also includes many platforms and side-scroll action elements. As the main gameplay character, you can do many things such as running, jumping, swimming, shooting, slide, and even charging the Mega Buster and various other weapons. Mega man can very quickly restore his health and upgrade his weapons by defeating enemies. After an introductory stage, there are four robot master stages, just like the Mega Man 7 game, which you are required to complete. When you finish a stage, you would need to defeat a boss; after defeating, you would get access to master weapons.
