Shadow the Hedgehog, released in the year 2005, is a platform type video game and is a spin-off of Sonic the Hedgehog. Sega Studios USA developed, and Sega published the game for the PlayStation 2. The game introduces nonlinear gameplay and third-person shooter to the Sonic franchise.
The game follows the character Shadow the Hedgehog, who is a creation of evil Eggman's grandfather, Professor Gerald Robotnik. Here he tries to discover his past as he was suffering from amnesia. The gameplay in Shadow the Hedgehog is similar to other Sonic games where the player has to collect rings, destroy enemies, and run quickly. While gathering rings, his health increases, and if he gets attacked by an enemy, then ten of his rings will bounce away.
The player completes each level in the game by taking some missions, which are Normal, Hero, or Dark. In the Normal mission, the players need to reach the Chaos Emerald or the end, whereas, in the Hero mission, the player needs to complete tasks for Doctor Eggman or the heroic characters in the Sonic series. And in Dark mission, the player completes the tasks for Doctor Eggman or Black Arms.
