Developed by Sega and initially launched in 2005, this game is the third installment in the Super Monkey Ball series. This game's primary goal is to finish a level by rolling a monkey in a transparent ball right from the starting point to the end level. There is a specific time limit within which you have to complete the level or lose the game. As you roll the monkey, you can collect various points by gathering bananas in the way. Each level and stage in this game is filled with various obstacles and dangers, including moving platforms, stairs, narrow bridges, and ramps where you are required to roll the monkey without falling off.
The gameplay of this game is straightforward and engaging. You can move the ball in different directions with the DS touch screen's help, but you can also use D-pad in some instances. Using the stylus, you can move in different directions, like moving forward, holding the stylus upwards on the screen, whereas for moving backward or moving right or left by holding the stylus downwards. To keep you engaged with the game, there are six-party games included with the main game that provides for the fight, golf, race, bowling, etc. There are many bonus levels in this game where you can also expect some additional level as soon as you finish other levels.

Many players opposed the game for its approach of a similar inspiration to its previous games, which frustrated many as they didn't find this game very engaging. However, the feature of including various mini-games was highly appreciated by many critics and players. Support of the D-pad also improved the overall gameplay and provided a great experience to the players. Critics praised the use of graphics, music, and other effects as it improved the game's performance and did not slow down at any point.
