The game is about Starfy, who is the prince of Pufftop Palace. Starfy and his friends don't require water to survive. One day, Starfy and his friend Moe meets an extraterrestrial rabbit named Bunston, who has lost his memory. They find that crystal shards cause Bunston's memory to return. The group sets out on a quest for the remaining crystal shards to return Bunston's memory. They go on an adventure to find the fragments and avoid the group of space pirates who want to capture Bunston. There are eight stages, and each features four primary levels and three secret levels. The game's theme is aquatic, but many segments take place in the air and land. As the game moves forward, Starfy learns new abilities. Bunston has powers that allow him to transform into creatures such as a fire-breathing dragon, a crowing chicken, a spear-wielding seal, and a translucent ghost. The gameplay is fun and has some great visuals. The levels and the characters are bright and colorful.

Pirates, who are known as the Terrible Trio: Snips, Ronk, and Papes, arrive and try to kidnap Bunston. Starfy defeats the Terrible Trio, and he, along with his friend Moe discovers that Bunston has lost his memory. Crystal shards can bring back his memory, so the trio starts collecting them. Halfway through their journey, they again meet the terrible trio and defeat them to move forward. Over the game sequence, the appalling trio has a change of heart and apologizes for what they've done. But then Mashtooth, the pirate's leader, injures the Terrible Trio for their failed attempts to capture Bunston. Starfy and friends go to Bunston's planet to free it from Mashtooth.
