Also known as "F-Zero on water", Wave Race 64 is a racing video game designed by Nintendo EAD and distributed by Nintendo for the Nintendo 64. This game was launched in 1996, and it is a sequel to 1992 game "Wave Race". Wave Race 64 features high-speed boats which are having transforming abilities, enabling the players to shift from a steady catamaran-style form to a smooth and elegant canoe style version. This game has had great commercial success and has sold more than 150,000 units in Japan by December 1996. By 2007, the game has sold around 2 million copies in the United States.
Three single-player modes and a multiplayer mode are included in this game. The game supports the Controller Park, that will enable the players to transfer saved data from one platform to another. In the Championship mode, players need to race against the rivals via a series of levels and win the Championship. There are four levels of difficulties from which you can choose your preferred one. When a player completes a particular level of the game, points are awarded based on the performance, and on the rank, they finished.
The players can unlock other courses and modes of the game by winning the Championship mode. In 1997, Wave Race 64 ranked 68th out of 100 Best Games of All Time by EGM Publications.
Wave Race 64 can be easily downloaded with the help of the Project 64 game emulator. This emulator was released in March 1998 as an N64 emulator that will help download and run most of the N64 games on various devices. This emulator is very highly compatible as it does not require a Basic Input/Output System (BIOS). The Project 64 emulator is one of the best in top-performing N64 emulators used today. Since Project 64 is free and open-source software, you won't see any promotions in its User Interface. Under this emulator, players can join servers where multiple games can be played with many other unique features. Other N64 emulators you can use are Mupen64Plus, UltraHLE, and Snes9x.
