Many years before the first game's background, Shinnok, an Elder God, tries to become the realm's conqueror. Raiden, the thunder god, fought and defeated him. He trapped Shinnok in Netherrealm. With the help of Sorcerer Quan chi, he manages to escapes and wants revenge. He first conquers Edenia with the help of a traitor, Tanya. To stop him, Raiden seeks help from the Earthrealm warriors. This game has many classic fighters of the Mortal Kombat franchise, such as Raiden, Scorpion, and Sub-Zero, and new characters: Goro, Meat, and Noob Sailboat. The game is fast and furious. The fighting system of the game depends upon the projectile weapons, combos, and speed. Each character has some unique moves plus four new fatalities. There are numerous gameplay modes in the game: Arcade mode with one-on-one or two-on-two Kombat; Tournament mode in which four or eight players fight, a Team mode, endurance mode, and a Practice mode. There is a Maximum Damage addition to the combo system; that can break the combos if they cause lots of damage to a player and prevents infinite combos.
