It is an arcade game released in 1989 by Capcom. This game is based on a film of the same name. The game story begins with the evil witch known as Bavmorda, who is after the baby Elora Danan and wants to destroy her. Willow Ufgood, a peaceful young wizard, was selected to protect Elora. Madmartigan, a brave warrior, joins Willow to fight the rival General Kael. The player, as Willow, travels through a beautiful, lush 2D environment. Willow uses magic to take down the Nockmaar soldiers. He can fire projectile bursts, charge energy and unleash powerful spells at enemies. The player has to purchase spells, and they can stop time and damage all enemies on screen. After the first stage, the player takes control of Madmartigan, who uses his sword to fight. The shopkeeper sells blades also along with Willow's magic spells. The game offers smooth gameplay with good graphics and music.
It is a run and gun side-scrolling platform. The game consists of six stages, players play as Willow and in some as Madmartigan. They consist of Crossroad, Fin Raziel's Island, Cherlindrea's Forest, Sorsha's Camp, Nockmaar Castle, and Tir Asleen Castle. The player has to complete the stage in a limited time. After the defeat, the enemies drop coins which the player has to collect to buy things or attack upgrades at the shop. Willow's upgrades are versatile, and Madmartigan gives him a more excellent range and power.
