It is a side-scrolling beat 'em up arcade game released in 1993 by Data East. One, two or three characters move from left to right through the levels and fight with the enemy until they come face to face with the final boss at the end of the level. After the player defeats that boss, the game moves to the next stage.
If the player tries to travel without killing or fighting, the screen stops scrolling. Enemies can move outside the boundaries of the screen, but players cannot. Each stage has some time limit and horror in which the player fights with hordes of zombies, monsters, mutants, werewolves and elementals.
Even the bosses are the known monsters such as a golem, mummy, count Dracula, Frankenstein's monster and Death the Grim Reaper. The player aims to destroy these bosses to stop the evil plans of King Zarutz who wants to turn the planet into a kingdom for the dead.
The thing that separates this game from another beat 'em ups is that the nemeses' names are not mentioned on their health bars when they fight them. Gameplay The game follows classic arcade gameplay where the player follows a linear path and fights the enemies till he/she reaches the end to face the boss.
This arcade classic as its core gameplay is fun. The characters each have their strengths and weaknesses and even patent attacks. One of the robust characters is Jake Hunter, who has cybernetics composed in his strikes and uses lightning. Christopher Williams is a composed fighter who uses ice for his patent attacks.
The last one is Zhao Hong Hua, who uses the fire element for her special attacks. Each of them has two unique kinds of specials of their own. The enemies include all types of monsters: zombies, demonic spirits and werewolves. These bosses are the most challenging enemies to encounter and result in a large cut down in the player's health bar.
