Capcom published this survival horror game for GameCube in 2002. It's the first instalment in the Resident Evil game franchise. The franchise created the term survival-horror a genre known for elaborate and dark environments, limited weapons, feeling of isolation and little health. The game is a mixture of hard decision and terrifying monster. The makers have managed to get all the elements together to produce a game that is unique and enjoyable. The gameplay reflects on the theme like brainpower vs muscle power, danger vs safety, natural evolution vs engineering and many more. The story takes place in the fictional town of Racoon city. The player plays the role of either Jill Vallentine or Chris Redfield. They are on their way to investigate the murders of their city.
On the outskirts of Midwestern town of Racoon city, a series of weird murders occur. Special Tactics and Rescue Service (STARS) investigates the case. They lose the contact with the Team Bravo, so now it's up to Team Alpha to find what happened with team Bravo. They see the crashed helicopter of the team bravo, and suddenly a pack of horrific dog attacks them and kills one team member. The pilot Brad Vickers gets scared and takes off alone, leaving behind the other members in an abandoned mansion. The main character (Jill or Chris) finds many Bravo team members eaten by a zombie. He finds that the umbrella does a series of illegal experiments which releases a biological agent known as T-virus and these zombies are the results of these experiments. He sees the secret underground laboratory where these experiments take place. After his confrontation with the Tyrant a super-soldier he activates the lab self-destruct system. The ending depends on the player action like in one ending all the surviving members die and only the player is the sole survivor or the surviving team escapes by helicopter.
