It's a real-time strategy and a puzzle video game released in 2001 for GameCube by Nintendo. The purpose of the game is to recover the ship parts with the help of three Pikmin. You play Captain Olimar, who is a space traveller who crashed on a strange planet. After the crash, thirty parts of your ship gets dispersed on the planet's surface, and you have only thirty days of life support left. But then comes Pikmin for your rescue. Pikmins are plant-animal hybrids that follow your order willingly to help recover your parts. They are of three types: red, yellow and blue. The red one is the most potent, yellow Pikmin can throw bomb rocks, and blue Pikmin can survive in water. At the end of each day, you have to return to your ship with all the Pikmin. Three different endings depend on Olimar's progress.
The main protagonist is captain Olimar, who comes from the planet Hocotate. The story begins when Olimar is on vacation in outer space, and due to a comet, he crashes his spaceship in an unknown world. The planet has a high amount of poisonous oxygen, and this oxygen support is only available for thirty days. He has thirty days to collect at least twenty-five parts to take off from this planet. There are indigenous creatures, Pikmin, who help Olimar in his quest. The game endings depend upon how many parts Olimar can get. There are two good endings where players get either thirty parts or twenty-five necessary parts and a bad ending where he fails to get the required components.
