Although Yu-Gi-Oh! - Reshef of Destruction is based on the traditional RPG design, but it offers a much engaging storyline and gameplay. Developed by Konami, this game was launched in August 2004 in Europe. The game's story starts where Joey and Yugi are sitting in a room just about to start a game of cards. Joey organizes his deck without Yugi being present in the room. Suddenly Yugi enters and tells the other characters in the game that Yami and his Millennium Puzzle have disappeared. All the Millennium items start disappearing, and the world goes into Reshef. You are required to bring back all these items and save the world from Reshef.
The game has been more suited for Yu-Gi-Oh! Fans only with few advancements and an engaging storyline were missing in other related RPG card games. With average or mixed reviews, this game is not seen to have made the cut it was supposed to. Metacritic gave this game a 61/100, whereas IGN.com gave this game a score of 5.5/10. Many critics opposed the fact that the game did not offer anything new to the players other than some new cards and features.
The gameplay of this game is very much like Yu-Gi-Oh! The Sacred Cards game. There is also the addition of many new features and enhancements in the combat system and in the overall gameplay, which sets this game apart from its previous versions. You would now witness many monster effects in the battle scenes which last much longer. This difficulty level is much higher than its earlier versions with the increased number of added cards. There is a little to no increase in deck capacity of a deck after every duel where new cards would cost much higher, making the battle more competitive. The computer-generated opponent has much more superiority in a fight when restricting the number of cards.
